Aiden Smith — the craftsman behind AJS Instruments — will be showcasing a selection of his bespoke, handmade ukuleles at the Festival in June.

After years of creating fine furniture and wooden pieces, Aiden shifted his focus in 2015 to crafting and repairing wooden stringed instruments, with a particular love for ukuleles.

Every instrument is handmade with care, blending traditional techniques, beautiful wood choices, and a commitment to great sound and playability. He also teaches woodwork to students of all levels, and occasionally builds guitars, mandolins, and other unique wooden creations.

For 2026 we will have our very own “Ukulele Scribe”

Are we the first Ukulele Festival to have a resident poet?

Ian Chorlton will be roaming the festival like a wandering bard who’s misplaced his horse but kept the notebook. He’ll be drifting between workshops, sessions, and the cafe, collecting inspiration and composing ditties about the weekend’s musical vibrancy.

If you see him scribbling furiously, don’t panic — you’re probably not in trouble (but on the other hand...)! He’ll be sharing his poems
throughout the weekend  - some just penned, others more crafted. Who knows — you might end up immortalised in verse!

Come strum with us at the 2026 Findhorn Ukulele Festival!

Set in the heart of the beautiful Findhorn Ecovillage, on the Moray Coast, Scotland, this year’s festival promises a vibrant mix of music, connection, and creativity. Expect an inspiring lineup of performers and workshop leaders, alongside open mics, social gatherings, Charity Celebration Concert and the ever-popular “Battle of the Bands” —  with added X-Factor flair!

  • Meet the Tutors (Friday Evening)  – Hear personal stories from our guest artists about their ukulele journeys, and take the opportunity to ask your own questions.
  • Beginners Workshops –  Never played? Now is your chance to begin learning! These introductory sessions, led by Jo McParland, have been designed for absolute beginners. No need to have a ukulele - we have 30 Kala Shark Concert ukuleles available for use.
Whether you're a seasoned strummer or just starting out, there’s something for everyone at the 2nd Findhorn Ukulele Festival.
We even have an ultra-low cost ticket (£30) for non-players which includes entry to all the events and concerts (but excludes the workshops). If your partner or friend is a player, come along with them and enjoy the buzz - you might even leave the festival as a budding player!

Findhorn, on Scotland’s Moray Coast, is known both for its historic fishing village-now-seaside holiday destination and the world-famous Findhorn Foundation Community.
The Community was established more than 60 years ago and is home to about 300 residents at The Park Ecovillage as well as hundreds of others who live in the wider locality. Many thousands are connected to the Community around the world.
The Moray Coast is well known for its old harbours and fishing villages, coastal walking, cycling tracks, and extensive sandy beaches. It is attractive for wild swimmers and the water quality is recognised as among the best in the UK.
Findhorn Bay is popular for water activities, whilst inland there are ample forests and hills to enjoy walking trips. In June the daylight this far north is stunning - so close to midsummer, dawn is around 4am and it barely goes beyond dusk into the late evening. Perfect for sleeping on the beach to watch the sunset and sunrise!
There is a wide choice of holiday accommodation around the Findhorn peninsula - B&Bs, cottages for rent, a village hostel converted from the former village primary school, camping and caravanning.
At The Park Ecovillage there is an award winning shop selling fresh food and drinks, as well as general food items; it also has a broad range of gifts and books. The Phoenix Cafe, part of the same business as The Phoenix shop, serves refreshments and light meals every day from 9-5. The Cafe is located at the Universal Hall, a 350-seat auditorium which will be the main venue for the Findhorn Ukulele Festival.
